Rubik Monastery Church is a prominent religious structure and a monastery affiliated to the Albanian history for centuries. Benedictine monks established it within the 12 century and remains to be among the ancient religious building in Albania. The construction of the monastery took place in the 12th century this makes it the oldest historic religious structure of still in Albania. The church is known for its exotic architecture; its interiors are completely lined with Byzantine style paintings and Romanesque designs.
The paintings in the interior are actually very well done. They depict narratives from the holy scriptures along with elaborate patterns illustrating the art and religion of medieval Albania. The picturesque site of the Monastery on the hill attracts many pilgrims and tourists to the Fan River as it possesses fascinating cultural and religious history of the land, Albania.
