Mountain with pits (Mali me Gropa) is an interesting hiking area located within the Tirana region of Albania, 40 kilometers in the southeast direction. The mountain is known for its unique geological features as well as its breathtaking scenery of a hundred dips. These pits differ in depth ad diameter, giving the region a unique longitudinally cross-cut surface that places it apart from other parts of the mountainous Albania. The hollows are said to have been created by weathering agents in the most recent Ice Age, which makes the area quite astonishing both historical and geological.
The area around the Mountain with Pits falls within that of Dajti national park, which is famous for the rich animal and plant life, as well several activities. The mountain tops are approximately 1,800 m high and have temperate and cooling conditions throughout summer. The hike to the pits offers the visitors a magnificent view of the watu, shule and cane valleys, as well as the surrounding forests and mountains. Ideal for photographers, nature and adventure enthusiasts, the mantain in this place adds beauty and at the same time offers a challenging pursuit of sport.
